GUIDED TOURS VENICE
Guided tour of contemporary modern art at the Venice Biennale
59th Venice Art Biennale 2022
The Venice Art Biennale is the most important international exhibition of contemporary art that has been held in Venice every two years, in the even years, since 1895 - in the odd years, the Biennale of Architecture takes place. Every nation participating in the exhibition has its own pavilion - some of them designed by important architects of the 20th century - in which the most current artistic expressions of the respective nations are on display.
The exhibition grounds occupy part of the public gardens, the "Giardini Pubblici", which emerged under Napoleon at the beginning of the 19th century, as well as the Arsenale. Both can be reached via a beautiful waterfront promenade, the "Riva degli Schiavoni", from St. Mark's Square. Furthermore, country pavilions, objects and installations are scattered across the entire city.
Art Biennale Exhibition 2022:
For the third time in its more than 100-year history, the Biennale 2022 has a woman as curator for its 59th edition: after Bice Curiger from Switzerland (2011, Illumi-nazioni) and Christine Macel from France, (2017, Viva Arte Viva), Cecilia Alemani from Italy (Milan 1977) has been invited to curate the world's most important exhibition of contemporary art. It is not the first time she has been involved with the Art Biennale: in 2017, she expertly curated the Italian pavilion with Roberto Cuoghi's imitation of Christ and, above all, Giorgio Andreotta Calò's water installation Senza Titolo - The End of the World. Just as Cecilia Alemani is the first Italian woman to curate the Art Bienniale, her husband Massimiliano Gioni was the youngest curator of the exhibition, titled Palazzo Enciclopedico, in 2013. No title has been announced yet for the 2022 Biennale.
